Wineis the highest expression of Tuscany in Castello di Spaltenna in Chianti. Every year, the grapes grown in the vineyard on the surrounding hills around the hotel are picked and used to create six exclusive wine labels.

White, red and rosé wines can be purchased at the Castle’s Shop, tasted in the Canteen on demand, or ordered at Il Pievano Restaurant.

Igt Tuscany Rosè

Ideal with:
aperitifs and light dishes

A great product of the Sangiovese versatility, this is a scented, fresh pleasant wine. Produced with 100% Sangiovese pink-coloured grapes, it has a fruity smell, a pleasant and fresh taste with a balanced acidity.

Igt Tuscany Red

Ideal with:
simple and light dishes based on meat

This ‘geographicaly protected’ Sangiovese red wine, is fresh, pleasant and scented. Its drinkability and palatability make it a perfect every day wine. It is produced with 100% clear ruby red Sangiovese grapes and has a particularly brisk taste.

Chianti DOCG Classic

Ideal with:
meat and game dishes

This is a ‘geographicaly protected’ Classic Chianti traditional tasting wine. It is produced with 100% Sangiovese grapes and refined in big oak barrels, where the eccentricity of the grapes are free to mature and make this wine a perfect match with many authentic dishes of the traditional Tuscan cuisine.

Ruby red coloured, red berries scented, it shows a typical taste of medium consistency.

Classic Chianti Reserve DOCG Chianti

Chianti Classic Reserve is produced with 80% Sangiovese and 20% Merlot and consists of a modern version of this ‘geographicaly protected’ wine, aged for over one year in oak 15-20hls drums and subsequently in the bottle for at least three months.

The fruity smell and the solid, yet still elegant and soft structure, is the accent of this wine and has a rich ruby red colour, with an intense and fruity smell, rich and persistent in taste.

Classic DOC Chianti "Vin Santo"

Ideal for:
sweets, biscuits and cheese

In Tuscany “Vin Santo” is the ‘welcome wine’ par excellence: it is in fact offered to the guests between meals, but it can also be served as a table wine together with desserts or herbed cheese.

This wine is traditionally made with Chianti Malvasia and Trebbiano grapes, left to wither for about three months. After the pressing, the must that comes out is put to ferment in small 100ls oak barrels called “caratelli”, where it remains for four years.

This wine has a golden yellow colour with amber reflections, a smell typically reminiscent of honey and dried fruit, hazelnut in particular. The taste is quite sweet and supported by a good acidity.
